Companies sponsor retirement plans for different reasons. Sometimes
the reason is to provide a means for employees to save for
retirement. Other times it may be a method of helping to reward
productivity or profitability. Often, plans are setup to provide tax
deferred savings for the business owner. APA does not believe in
"one size fits all" plan design.
First, we work to understand the needs of the company. We take into
account employee demographics, previous participation rates and the
desire of the owners to benefit from the plan. We work closely with
Human Resources and any Investment Committee to make sure we
understand all of the goals related to the plan. We learn about plan
and company expenses associated with plan administration and
investments.
After we understand all of these various factors, we begin to design
a plan to meet the specific needs of the client. Even after the plan
design is complete, we continue to monitor plan design for
enhancements or mandated changes based on new laws and the evolving
needs of our clients.
